Lately I have been purging excess from mine and my families lives. I am tired of being bogged down by all the ridiculous excess that surrounds this American Life (tm., haha).
One of the things I am reducing is television.
I am tired of television showing adds that are sexual or frightening during family television time. I am tired of television showing commercials for products that I do not need, nor do I want. This is not even mentioning the commercials that are overtly sexual, or for products I DO NOT want my child knowing even exists much less have pop on during Ellen.
I can't take the news anymore! The news has lost it's mind. I don't understand why hollywood is EVER on the news, much less a large portion to every news cast! What has happened to our country where hollywood is more important than what's happening in your Nation or Locally? The disconnect in society is coming from the shallow view television is and now this is becoming "News". How in the hell do they think little minds are going to react when they see famous people glorified to the extent that what they "said" or "did" becomes a "News" story! I want the whole fucking world to hold their breath when I poop too!! Sign my ass up! (omg! the thought, the horror!) Why do we put up with this? That was so ranty... eh, hem
The way the "news" and television is going we are going to become what we eat.
I have much more to talk about and say about this very important, to me, issue, but I don't want to stray off topic too much further.
I sat on hold and then PAINFULLY interacted with someone at the cable company today. I talked to that person forprettydangnearferkingEVER and nearly did not get my task completed. Why has it become so hard to get anything accomplished once you've signed your life away (i.e. a contract of any sorts)? Customer's Service, in too many industries, has caused us all to give up and give in I guess? I don't know how to stop standing in the waiting line? Who the hell do you complain to? I can complain to my mortgage company, my bank, my internet provider, my server and get more grief than reward. I think we've come to expect and accept crappy in too many places in this country.
I can't leave on an abysmal negative note. I am positive by nature (or with a swift kick in the ass sometimes). So, I want to leave with the knowledge that our country is getting smarter, nicer, and more community oriented despite my ranting and I Like This... A Lot!!
